need to receive this as soon as possible. it’s saturday 745am EST. just ordered this from amazon (our favorite bookstore that gives us $25 gift certificates) because it was the only online store with the ability to send it one day delivery…to arrive MONDAY. others with the same shipping costs deliver the earliest on tuesday. kudos to you amazon for your hard work–even on the weekends. hope the product delivers as well as you. with all the reviews online (e.g. cnet.com) and here it sounds like an amazing product. love the 30 day replacement if it arrives dead on arrival, too. that helped me over the hump of different low marks from other reviewers who had problems with the ac adapter (i think that was their problem)….
According to the positive reviews I read on this board, I ordered a two tone black/grey Asus Eee PC 1005HA-VU1X-BK 10.1 8.5 hr PC sold by Amazon. When the computer arrived today, I opened the box and found out the one I received is not the same design as shown on Amazon website. The color design is pearl black, exactly as the 1000HA pearl black model. I called the customer service to find out why and was told the item Amazon sold is not same color advertised on its website. Could this be a counterfeit? I am not sure. The rep told me that Amazon will update the image with pearl black color soon and not to mislead customers anymore. I am waiting for that before I decide whether to return it or not. One more problem with the power adaptor, it is burning hot after plug in for about 30 minutes. Is this a defect product?
This is purely a review on how Amazon ships this item.
Some buyers complain about the screen breaks easily and I think it maybe b/c of how Amazon ships this item. I was shocked when I opened the box. There was nothing aside from 2 big air bubbles that sat NEXT TO the laptop package in the shipping box. One of the big air bubbles was already deflated. If the laptop was packaged very well in its own box, the problem is less. However, there is only 1 layer of very thin cardboard sitting in covering the laptop screen! Imagine how many times this item is thrown up and down during shipping and every time, because of the lack of materials to absorb shock, will hit the laptop pretty hard.
Amazon should package electronic items like this much much better. It should have padding/bubbles wrapping AROUND the entire item. Dell does a much much better job.

This review has nothing to do with the quality of the product, but points out the quirkiness of Amazon’s market place delivery. I rate this product 4-star, so the current rating of this product is unaffected. (Some people get upset, if the review has nothing to do with the quality. Sometimes this type of reviews is useful. I know of no other place for me to vent my disappointment.)
I ordered this netbook, a 2gb memory plus a case on 9/08 and chose 2-day delivery, without realizing the netbook is to be shipped from JR Electronics. The netbook was split from other items and it has free shipping from JR. The other two items arrived two days later as scheduled. I tried to cancel the JR part of the order soon after placing the order, but unable to find a way thru Amazon. Because of the free shipping, the netbook is estimated to arrive 9/14 – 9/17, much later than the two-day delivery I wanted. Shouldn’t the Amazon system make clear to the customer the different delivery dates at `Place Order’ time, or did I just miss it? Shouldn’t the same delivery schedule be applied to the entire original order?
Below is the UPS tracking of my netbook as of 10 PM, PDT, Friday, 9/11. It looks like it’s going to stay in the Vernon center for a few days. The normal UPS center that services my area is about 45 miles away from the Vernon facility.
Notice the time it took from New York to arrive in Southern Calif, almost exactly three hours (different time zones). That’s fast moving. Are these tracking entries real-time or even real? I wonder!

Got one recently for my son. Agree with the other reviewers on the speed, keyboard and battery life. However, the clam-shell design does not allow the lcd screen to lean-back enough for me. And even so, it is already easily out-of-balance. I have concern that the product may tip-over and drop to pieces.
